Red meat linked to higher risk of premature death Empty Red meat linked to higher risk of premature death

This Province news report says a new study indicates that eating unprocessed red meat (hamburger, pork, roast beef, lamb) and processed meats (bacon, hot dogs, bologna, sausage) may increase a person’s risk of premature death and raise their risk of death from heart disease and cancer.

Conversely, substituting other foods such as fish, poultry, nuts and beans for red meat may lower their risk of premature death, the analysis suggests.

Other studies have linked eating red meat and processed meat to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, some types of cancer, particularly colorectal cancer, and premature death.

Do reports like this make you think twice about what you eat? Are you considering cutting down on red meat and processed meat like bacon and hotdogs? I don't eat any processed meat except bacon. I like bacon, especially Hertel's thick sliced bacon. I think it's time to stop eating it too.

Actually when I see reports like these I wonder why, why now and who benefits? These kind of bullshit reports always are sent out to benefit some company, promoting some produce to financially some person.

The Aluminum Cooking Pot link to Alzheimer Disease, the cast iron cooking report linked to stomach problems, the Teflon report claiming the product causes cancer were all sponsored by the competition to get the people to buy their cooking products.

The bullshit reports from the people against farmed salmon that claim the Malachite Green content (true but in Parts Per Billion or total insignificance amounts) and failing to report equal content in wild salmon. If everyone actually thought about who the report benefits instead of screaming the sky is falling every couple weeks he world would be a lot better off.
